Gatlinburg, TN is a city that is rich in cultural heritage and natural beauty. This small town embodies the “Mayberry” lifestyle and is wrapped in all of nature’s splendid glory with the surrounding GreatSmokyMountainNational Park (link to SmokyMountainNational Park article) and the Great Smoky Mountains. The awe-inspiring landscape that surrounds the town consisting of rivers, creeks, mountain ranges, abundant forestry and a diverse assortment of wildlife is truly a site to behold- it can literally take your breathe away.
Also known as the “Gateway to the Smokies”, Gatlinburg has morphed into one of the most frequented vacation destinations in the United Stateswith aproximatley10-14 million visitors annually. This has been a huge boost to the local economy and lodging industry creating many thriving businesses in Gatlinburg. The “Strip” or Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg is home to many famous attractions like the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies and the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum along with hundreds of other shops and restaurants.
Some of the area’s cultural heritage can be seen proudly on display in the Arts and Crafts Community and one of the latest attractions to open in Gatlinburg the Shops at Carousel Gardens where you can see over 45 local artist’s work (including my mother Judy Enckler). Some of the nationally renowned artists that have galleries in the Arts and Craft Community include Jim Gray, G. Webb and Paul Murray. The people, landscape and wide array of entertainment make Gatlinburg, TN a magnificent place to call home!
